The SMI™ assessment helps you understand how you use strategy and perspective-taking in social situations. It explores areas such as: · How aware you are of what motivates you to engage in strategic thinking about others · Whether your strategic approach is driven more by a need for control or by curiosity and understanding · How much you believe in the usefulness and effectiveness of strategic mentalizing · How well you pick up verbal clues of others that reveal their primary mental states such as emotions, desires, beliefs, or knowledge · How accurately you can infer more complex mental states — like intentions, motivations, or attitudes — from what people say · How well you sense, from someone’s words, whether they want to cooperate or compete, connect or keep distance · How effectively you read personality traits through verbal behavior · How easily you understand different perspectives, hold more than one in mind and shift between them · How open you are to exploring the reasons behind the behavior of others and considering alternative explanations · How skilled and motivated you are at influencing others · How aware you are of your own openness to influence — and how able you are to resist unwanted pressure Our inventories draw on a variety of theories and are supported by a wide body of scientific research. The insights you gain can help you map out a path to enhance your skills and guide you toward the advice, training, or counseling programs offered by the Center for Applied Theory of Mind that best match your goals. Every report is personally reviewed by a qualified psychologist or trained interpreter to ensure accuracy before they are sent. This inventory will remain accessible for 7 days, after which you may need to re-enroll.
