Develop the ability to analyze verbal behavior to understand personality, motives, integrity, and hidden truths. In this course you will explore the following five topics: 1. Detecting mental states such as emotions, desires, beliefs and levels of knowledge in verbal communication 2. Integrating mental state information to infer attitudes, motivations and intentions 3. Interpreting personality traits from verbal behavior 4. Assessing trustworthiness, integrity and competence in others 5. Contextualizing mental state information for accurate understanding By the end of this course, you will be able to: · Recognize verbal cues that signal primary mental states such as emotions, desires, beliefs, and levels of knowledge · Infer more complex mental states — including attitudes, motivations, and intentions — from these primary cues · Interpret personality traits, temperaments, and other characteristics from the way people share their experiences · Evaluate the integrity and competence of others based on their verbal expressions · Apply practical methods to assess the truthfulness of what people say · Reflect on your own language use, including word choice, sentence structure, and figurative expressions · Contextualize mental states to gain a deeper understanding of both others and yourself · Detect inconsistencies between words and behavior and recognize when something feels out of context The components that guide your learning: 2 Videos 1 Theory exercise (learning retention) 2 Preparation exercises (establishing a baseline) 4 Observation exercises 3 Practice exercises 2 Evaluation exercises (assessing your learning progress) Your time commitment for the course: · The course takes about 13 hours to complete, but you can go at your own pace. · You will have access to the course for 12 months from the date you enroll, so there’s plenty of time to learn, practice, and revisit the material.
